NTT DoCoMo the parent company and the NTT DoCoMo's Global headquarters for Research and Development are the primary partners with DoCoMo Capital. This allows us to bring tremendous resources to our portfolio investment companies to help insure their successful development and financial stability.

The R&D laboratories of NTT DoCoMo are positioned in international key locations of mobile technologies around the world.

NTT DoCoMo R&D Center (YRP)

Built in the lush hills of the Miura Peninsula, the NTT DoCoMo R&D Center in the Yokosuka Research Park provides a fertile environment for creating the advanced technologies that will lead us to the future.

We continue to move ahead in discovering new horizons for mobile communication and information technologies in a state-of-the-art research and development office equipped with all the necessary facilities and functions.

Our involvement in the launch of 3G has inspired us to work toward an exciting new society in which people and all kinds of objects, everywhere, can connect and communicate a wealth of information. Systems with extended information gathering power will link the office, the home, and other destinations for enhanced convenience in all aspects of everyday life. In the future, we also hope to incorporate information gathered by all five senses to achieve an array of services that until now have been far beyond our imagination.

Already, NTT DoCoMo is making great progress in such fields through a variety of innovative experiments, building know-how and techniques as we move toward exciting new business opportunities.

DoCoMo USA Labs

DoCoMo Communications Laboratories USA, Inc. (“DoCoMo USA Labs”) was established on November 1, 1999. Its Silicon Valley location was chosen to place us at the worldwide focal point for Internet technology. With clear vision and innovation, DoCoMo USA Labs intend to make positive contributions to the growth of NTT DoCoMo’s business and to the wirelessly connected global community.

Our mission is to develop innovative services and applications that will ensure maximum user benefits from future generations of wireless networks. We will provide the breakthrough technologies to enable DoCoMo to become the industry's platform leader through ownership of key infrastructure technologies and essential terminal specifications.

DoCoMo USA Labs' long-term vision is to secure key control points of the mobile network platform through innovative R&D contributions and aggressive intellectual property generation. We will become a globally recognized center of excellence in the areas of mobile communication, wireless Internet technology and platform definition. We will develop disruptive new technologies, enabling innovative service models to enhance the lifestyle, security and well-being of the global community.

We will accomplish our mission by providing breakthrough research innovations in mobile communications. DoCoMo USA Labs will operate as a liaison for collaboration with US companies and maintain positive relationships with US based standards organizations through active participation in their activities.

DoCoMo Euro-Labs

DoCoMo Communications Laboratories Europe GmbH (DoCoMo Euro-Labs), one of NTT DoCoMo’s affiliated companies in Europe, has been formed in order to conduct research on leading mobile communications technologies that can respond to the requirements of a highly advanced multimedia age.

The motivation of NTT DoCoMo to choose Munich, as the base for its European research activities is, that it offers a fruitful environment for collaborations. In Munich, the crossroad of Europe, our researchers have come together from more than ten countries to collaborate with highly qualified European technical Universities and major players in the mobile industry. In addition to excellent infrastructure Munich’s location in the very center of Europe makes it a hub city for international mobility.

In the past Europe has served a pivotal role as a platform of standardization activities regarding GSM (2G) and UMTS (3G). DoCoMo Euro-Labs was established in Europe in order to contribute to global research and standardization focused on 4G mobile communications systems.

Under the keyword, “Mobile Adventure”, we are continuing our research activities to bring our customers dreams, about what they want to do with future generation of mobile phones, to life in the time to come.

DoCoMo Beijing-Labs

DoCoMo Beijing Communications Laboratories Co., Ltd. (DoCoMo Beijing-Labs) was established on November 19, 2003 with their capital at 5.3 million US dollars. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT DoCoMo.

The new laboratories emphasize advanced research in high speed and high volume wireless transmission technologies, wireless systems, and basic technologies for a new approach to mobile communication. The overall purpose of their foundations is to enhance the potential of future mobile and personal communication technologies in fourth-generation (4G) and beyond. China has aggressively committed to Beyond 3G research and development, and is expected to evolve the requisite new standards. DoCoMo Beijing Labs will establish a stronger partnership with China through research activities.
